This legislative session, we continue to reckon with the daily impacts of the pandemic, the public health emergency of racism, the need for equitable economic recovery, and the ongoing climate crisis. With all of the urgency surrounding us, we must think broadly about how to tackle climate change.

The policies we advocate for must rethink how we get around, how we build and heat our homes, and — most importantly — that no one is left behind in this radical transformation. The Healthy Homes & Clean Buildings Act ( HB 1084 [[link removed]]) is one of multiple critical climate policies this legislative session that would tackle emissions strategically across our economy.

This bill paves a green pathway to phase out of fracked gas and other fossil fuels in buildings and move towards all-electric homes, and creates thousands of jobs in construction, manufacturing, and the energy sector each year. Take action today to email your legislators and urge them to pass HB 1084 out of committee! [[link removed]]

The built environment is the fastest growing source of emissions in our state, causing both indoor and outdoor pollution. This pollution in our homes and across neighborhoods is dangerous for our health and leads to serious conditions like asthma, heart attacks, and strokes. People of color and communities living on lower incomes disproportionately shoulder [[link removed]] exposure to outdoor air pollution and the associated health risks, making it especially urgent to address gas pollution in the building sector.

Establishing bold policies like HB 1084 that transition to a clean energy economy is part of how we recover our economy and must be done in a way that reflects the urgency of addressing racism and systemic inequalities. Let your representatives know that they must pass the Healthy Homes & Clean Buildings Act as one of the first steps towards creating a fossil fuel-free sustainable future for all. [[link removed]]
