Dear John,
Last week, I had coffee with my friend Kate to catch up on politics, motherhood, and life in general. We had barely sat down with our drinks before Kate got straight to the point. “Lindsey had incredible fundraising numbers last quarter,” she said excitedly. “How is she doing this quarter?”
As Lindsey’s Campaign Manager, fundraising is an important part of my job and I was glad she asked. I was happy to tell her we’re having a solid quarter, but we really need to close out strong in September.
Kate is not the only person who has asked me about our fundraising—the topic comes up in conversation all the time. When people ask, it’s because they are paying attention to Lindsey’s campaign and they like what they see. They want to know how she’s doing because, like me, they want to see her win.
If you want to see Lindsey win as much as I do, chip in $5 today to help get the word out about our people-powered campaign. ([link removed])
Strong fundraising numbers don’t just help pay for our expenses. They send a public message that we are a campaign to be reckoned with, and a campaign that can win. This positive message helps us recruit talented, passionate volunteers and campaign staff. It ensures we secure great press and media coverage. It catches the interest of voters in our district—voters like my friend Kate.
We’ve already pledged not to take a dime of corporate PAC or fossil fuel money, but Lindsey's opponent has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from them. In an ideal world, campaign finance reform would support candidates so that they wouldn’t have to spend so much of their time and resources raising money. Until then, making sure we have the funds to run our bold, progressive campaign is crucial, and we can’t hit our goals without your support.
Can we count on you to donate $10 to help further our momentum? ([link removed])
After this fundraising period ends on September 30th, I’ll sit down with Lindsey and our team to discuss plans for the next few months. Our totals from July through September will determine our ability to budget and plan for the upcoming scope of our campaign.
Our goal is to run the most engaging, extensive, and inclusive voter outreach program this district has ever seen. But right now we need your help to raise enough funds to make that possible. ([link removed])
I hope that on October 1st, we’re celebrating a fabulous finish to this financial quarter while making plans to turn our dreams for a massive grassroots campaign into reality. Join us on our journey!
Sincerely,
Sapna
