How Are Kids' Services Funded in First Drafts of the State Budget?
We appreciate that Texas Senate and House leaders crafted their initial budget proposals in a way that mostly recognizes that during the pandemic Texans need legislators to fully fund education, health care, and other services.
Yet there are still significant areas of concern, including inadequate funding for addressing student learning loss during the pandemic, student mental health, child abuse investigations under MedCARES, enrollment service for Medicaid and other programs, and Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) for infants and toddlers with disabilities.
