Get in the Game with the Big Bowl Vote
The Big Bowl Vote is just a few days away!

If you need help getting your game plan ready, here’s a sample game plan you can use:
  • Watch the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7.
  • Make note of any ads for alcohol products that might be attractive to youth. Ask yourself what choices the advertisers made that made the ad attractive to youth and what other choices they could have made.
  • On Monday, February 8, have the young people you work with take the Big Bowl Vote at preventionactionalliance.org/survey. Surveys must be completed by Tuesday at 5 p.m. PST to be included in our official results and press release.
  • After they take the survey, lead a conversation about the ads shown during the Super Bowl. Ask them what ads they found attractive and what choices those advertisers made. Then, ask them if any of the ads for alcohol products made similar choices and what the advertisers could do to make ads for alcohol products less attractive to youth.

There are many ways to engage youth with the message of the Big Bowl Vote. Download the Big Bowl Vote Playbook to help you get in the game.

After the Big Bowl Vote, use the results to talk about media literacy with the young people you work with. To help you get started, here are resources about a wide variety of deceptive advertisements from Truth in Advertising (TINA), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering consumers to protect themselves and one another against false advertising:

Anyone who administers the Big Bowl Vote to a young person will receive a 25% discount on one Decoded: Outsmarting Marketing in the Digital Age media literacy guides.
