Restoring Good Governance, Truth, & Justice
Tools for Restoring Good Governance and our Republic
Sometimes it can be easy to focus on the problem, rather than the solution. Even in these uncertain times, we must remember that our God is still on the throne and that He has equipped us with the tools we need to be good stewards of all that He has blessed us with. The 1776 Commission Report provides a roadmap to these tools for national renewal and restoration, and we urge you to read it. The Commission's purpose is to “enable a rising generation to understand the history and principles of the founding of the United States in 1776 and to strive to form a more perfect Union.” This requires a restoration of American education, which can only be grounded on a history of those principles that is “accurate, honest, unifying, inspiring, and ennobling.” And a rediscovery of our shared identity rooted in our founding principles is the path to a renewed American unity and a confident American future. HR 1: Federal Election Regulation & First Amendment Limitations
In January, a new bill was introduced in the US House of Representatives that would allow unconstitutional federal regulation of elections and limit First Amendment rights. The bill is currently in committee, but could see action very soon. H.R. 1, which is deceptively titled the “For the People Act,” is an incredibly harmful bill that would allow voter fraud on a never-before seen scale. If passed allow individuals to vote without showing ID, require early, vote-by-mail options in every state, and form a commission to silence anyone who questions election integrity. These are just a few of the problems with this bill. You can read HR 1 in its entirety hereIf you have not already done so, please contact your representative today and express your thoughts.

States are Standing Up for Women's Sports
“The Montana House of Representatives -- passed the "Save Women's Sports Act" by 61-38, paving the way for the state senate to do the same. Barbara Ehardt, the pioneer behind Idaho's bill testified, warning Montana, "If you don't pass legislation [like] this, there will come a day when there will be no room, no place, for girls and women to compete." Let us all pray that sanity and truth will prevail, instead of a narrow political agenda. Read more.

Raising Awareness to End Human Trafficking
One of the great injustices of our time is modern day slavery, also known as human trafficking. Currently, about 3/4 of trafficking victims are used for forced labor, while 1/4 are victims of sex trafficking. Last week, Representative Bronna Kahle introduced a resolution declaring January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month in the state of Michigan. CTV applauds the efforts of Michigan legislators working together to raise awareness and eradicate the evil of human trafficking. The tireless efforts of governmental agencies, non-profits, and community groups who are working together for modern day abolition are bearing fruit, but there is still much work to be done.

One of the keys to ending human trafficking to report suspicious activity. You can reach the National Human Trafficking Hotline by calling (888)373-7888 or texting 233733. A phone call or text could save lives. Want to do more? The Michigan Abolitionist Project is a great way to get involved in the fight. Learn more at: https://www.michiganabolitionistproject.org. You can also help stop forced-labor-based trafficking by purchasing products that are made in freedom, especially locally made goods, whenever possible. Together we can see an end to human trafficking, protect the most vulnerable, and restore the dignity of all human life.
Standing for the Sanctity of Life
CTV Joins other Pro-Life Activists at the Michigan March for Life
Along with hundreds of peaceful activists, CTV President James Muffett attended the March for Life at the State Capitol in the freezing cold on January 27. It was great to see such passion for the inalienable rights of innocent, unborn human children. Many leaders were also on hand, including Student Statesmanship Institute alumni, Christen Pollo from Protect Life Michigan and newly elected State Representative Andrew Fink. We will never give up and we will never give in until life is once again protected by law.

Michigan Senate Resolution 8 Protecting the Sanctity of Life
Last week, our Michigan Senate passed a resolution affirming the sanctity of life. Thank you to Senator Barrett, Senator Theis, and all those who used their voice to speak for the voiceless. Read the Resolution here.

Speaking the Truth About Abortion
One of the most powerful tools the Pro Life movement has on its side is truth, but we need to educate and share this truth with others. A helpful article that reminds us of this sobering truth can be found here. Please share. "No matter how safe or clean a clinic might seem, every abortion ends with an empty womb and the death of an unborn child."

North Carolina Makes Progress in Protecting Life
At the end of last January, the South Carolina state Senate voted to outlaw most abortions in the state, passing a bill that restricts abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected. Gov. Henry McMaster has pledged to sign the legislation into law. Mark Robinson, the first African American to be elected lieutenant governor of North Carolina, also commented, “There is no greater mission on earth than standing up for the most defenseless among us,” the Republican lawmaker said. “We cannot say we believe in equality, we cannot say that black lives matter or all lives matter or blue lives matter until we say unborn lives matter because that is where it all starts.” While the heartbeat law is likely to face legal challenges similar to what has happened in other states, this bill still marks tremendous progress in the fight to protect life. Scientists Commit Crimes Against Humanity in the Name of Research
Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh have been experimenting with grafting the skin of aborted babies onto rodents, allegedly for use in investigating human diseases. However, such "science" is a crime against humanity. In her written submission to US House of Representatives, Paige Comstock Cunningham, Chair of the Trump Administration's Human Fetal Tissue Research Ethics Advisory Board, testified that: “We should not seek to restore our own bodies at the cost of using the tiny bodies of others, whose only offense was to be growing in the ‘wrong’ womb at the ‘wrong’ time. As a people, we deserve better, and as a nation we are called to be better.” Read the full story here.

MI Superintendent Claims Homeschooled Children Belong to School District
CTV stands firmly behind a parents’ inalienable right to direct the care, education and upbringing of their children. That language is actually in the Michigan Constitution. Contrary to what many in the “public” school arena think, children do NOT belong to the State.

According to a local news article, 'Truancy has been a topic of discussion for both the school board and the City of Scottville, with Police Chief Matt Murphy noting during last Monday’s city commission meeting that cases have been more frequent than in years past. Superintendent Jeff Mount confirmed that truancy at MCC has increased this year.

“Part of it is Michigan homeschool laws,” he said. “We had 53,000 students in Michigan who… vanished, in essence (when remote learning was introduced in the wake of COVID-19).” He said there are about 350 students that are not accounted for in the West Shore Educational Service District, and approximately 30 at MCC.
“Are they homeschooled or are they no-schooled?” Mount said. “Because of the laws in Michigan, all a parent has to do is say, ‘I’m homeschooling,’ and there’s no accountability for that.”

Mount noted that he plans to speak to 35th Dist. State Sen. Curt VanderWall, R-Ludington, about the issue to try to find a legislative solution. “We worry about those kids,” he said. “They’re ours.”' Read the full story here.
