Today, I announced an emergency budget supplement to help us turn the corner on COVID-19 and invest in a stronger future for North Carolina.
North Carolinians have stood strong during this pandemic and we are ready to move our state forward.
The past year has tested all of us but we must work together on a focused, responsible plan to help families and businesses survive and grow strong while we bolster our economy and health care system and make sure students and teachers are in classrooms ready to learn.
We must help people get vaccines, stay in their homes, put food on the table and receive critical mental health services.
We must continue to support our state employees working on the frontlines of COVID-19 every day and provide relief for small businesses.
We must extend high-speed internet to all corners of the state and expand unemployment benefits, which are still among the lowest in the country.
We must provide bonuses for educators and school personnel. Educators have stepped up in extraordinary ways during this pandemic but did not get raises the last two years.
