Friend, I have zero tolerance for delaying a COVID-19 rescue plan.
President Biden proposed a comprehensive relief package, and I'm working tirelessly in the Senate to get it passed. But my Republican colleagues are dragging their feet, pushing a much smaller bill that wouldn't even begin to provide enough support for suffering Americans right now.
As this economic crisis deepens and the pandemic worsens, we need bold and decisive action – and we need it right now. Time is not on our side, so striving for bipartisanship cannot mean accepting delays that stall real solutions for real people in real time.
That's why I'm calling on Senate Democrats to start down the budget reconciliation route – which requires a simple majority of votes, not a so-called “supermajority.” It's time to go big, go fast, and go fair.
But COVID-19 isn't the only crisis Americans are facing right now, so I want to hear from you directly about what you think should be prioritized first once Democrats move forward with the budget reconciliation process and end this gridlock in the Senate:
I'm looking forward to reading your responses. Thanks so much.
