KEEP UP THE FIGHT—As we build a new energy economy to address the climate crisis, we must build back fossil free. Opportunities like this don't come around often, and this is one of our best chances to stop all new dirty fossil fuel projects—including Line 3, the Dakota Access Pipeline, and the Mountain Valley Pipeline—and end the era of fossil fuel production and burning.

Supporter,
We love to see it: President Joe Biden's swift actions on climate and environmental justice are a dramatic shift from the last four years, moving us rapidly toward a more just and sustainable future. Nowhere is that more clear than in President Biden's decision to cancel the Keystone XL dirty fuels pipeline permit, which would have locked us into decades of continued dependence on fossil fuels.
But it's not enough. Fossil fuel pollution and climate disasters are already disrupting millions of lives. And in President Biden's promise to build back better, we must build back fossil free. That's why we are stepping up our fight to stop dangerous fossil fuel projects polluting our climate and communities. We must instead invest in a thriving, healthy clean energy economy that delivers jobs, justice, and opportunity for all.

Predictably, the conservative and corporate backlash to the new administration has already started.
Afraid of the same Keystone XL fate, oil and gas companies are going all out to protect their other proposed new dirty fuel pipelines—and their profits, never mind public health and our planet. And they have almost limitless funds to lobby decision-makers and stage misleading, and frankly untrue, media campaigns.
Because the truth is that pipelines and other fossil fuel projects drive the climate crisis and pollute our air, water, and lands. And for far too long, Black, Indigenous, Brown, and working-class communities have borne the brunt of fossil fuel pollution and been on the frontlines of climate disasters.
Line 3 in Minnesota would create more pollution than the equivalent of 50 coal plants. The Dakota Access Pipeline transports over half a million barrels of crude oil every day through Indigenous communities and fragile natural landscapes and waterways. Massive oil and gas export proposals are propping up the industry and driving new markets for dirty fuels, which decreased demand shows we do not need. Continuing fossil fuel projects is costing us billions of dollars in climate disaster and public health costs. And for every project, the health and lives of Indigenous and frontline communities are sacrificed for fossil fuel profits.
Building back better must mean building back fossil free. We are working with partners on the ground and across the movement to pressure the Biden administration to stay the course and substantively reject all fossil fuel projects, challenge every attempt to sidestep bedrock environmental safeguards, and work with allies in Congress for enduring legislation.
