Today, I wanted to share with you one of the most meaningful experiences I had in Georgia during our bus tour to get disenfranchised folks out to vote.
I met a young woman who saw our March On branded T-shirts and asked if she could have one, and we got to talking about whether she was going to vote and if she was registered. She was, and had gotten commitments from her boyfriend and brother that they would vote as well, if they could.
Her brother, however, wasn’t sure if he could vote. He’d been convicted of a felony years earlier, and thought he was barred from voting for life.
But the truth was: he could vote! We were lucky enough to have the chance to let him know about his rights.
The young woman was visibly emotional, having learned that her brother, who thought he was voiceless in society, had a second chance to make his voice heard.
This is why we do the work we do. Moments like these make every long day worth it.
That’s why I’m coming to you today to ask you to power March On. Although it seems like we just got out of the election storm, Senate elections in 2022 are coming right up, and we have a razor thin majority.
Can you make a donation of $5, $20 or however much you can afford at the moment to fund our initiatives to protect the ballot?
