** Polio Vaccination—Still Causing Polio After All These Years

Oral polio vaccines are “spawning virulent strains” of polioviruses. The surge in vaccine-derived polio cases presents vaccine planners with a conundrum. A CDC virologist has stated that the use of the type-2-only vaccine has created more new cases of the virus than has been stopped.
What should health authorities do when the very tool they are using for polio eradication is causing the problem to be worse? The WHO announced they will combat the outbreak with two new oral polio vaccines. While the WHO describes polio as just one possible cause of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), African labs have been isolating type 2 vaccine virus in case after case of AFP.

** BBC Documentary, Conspiracy Files: Vaccine Wars
------------------------------------------------------------
BBC’s documentary Vaccine Wars provides a critical historical perspective about the vaccine safety movement that one rarely sees in the media. Parents, advocacy groups like SafeMinds and Moms Against Mercury and doctors, news reels of physicians Dr. John Wilson and Dr. Andy Wakefield leading early movements, are included in the documentary. Del Bigtree, Barbara Loe Fisher, Robert. F. Kennedy, Jr. and others are interviewed. US and UK Government actions to protect the pharmaceutical industry are also covered.
When discussing recent mandates in the US, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was allowed a final thought, “The state should not be ordering people in a democracy to take an untested drug. That is something we signed off on in Nuremberg ... never again.”
And regarding untested drugs, Brian Deer, (who has written about Dr. Andrew Wakefield extensively over the years) remarkably admitted in his final words, “There is a very valid criticism of CDC in that it is both a cheerleader, the preeminent cheerleader, for immunization and it also plays a major role in safety research. I think the only way to resolve that is for vaccine safety issues to be moved to a separate entity that does nothing but, if you like, find fault with vaccines.”

** Infant and Child Mortality in the U.S.—Nothing to Brag About

International comparisons show that the U.S. has ranked lowest among twenty developed nations for child mortality since the 1990s and currently ranks behind 55 other countries worldwide for infant mortality. At present, U.S.-born children are 76% more likely to die before their first birthday than infants in other wealthy nations.
With these disproportionately high rates of infant and child mortality in the U.S., policy-makers should be acknowledging that vulnerable babies abound. At the same time, they should be taking note of the fact that vulnerabilities are not always apparent and that the success of early 20th-century initiatives to reduce infant mortality occurred before widespread use of vaccination and medical technologies.

** Liability-Free Products Put Our Children At Risk

The pharmaceutical industry and physicians have no liability for any injury or death resulting from vaccines, and parents of vaccine-injured children are bearing full emotional and financial responsibility for the care of them.
Parents don’t feel they are being heard even though they are writing and calling their legislators, requesting meetings. Some are being arrested, losing relationships, leaving schools, and jeopardizing their livelihoods. If the science is settled, if vaccines are universally safe and effective, why are so many willing to risk so much?

** Hand Sanitizer Shown Less Effective Than Hand Washing Against Flu

A new study from Japanese researchers challenges the idea that ethanol-based disinfectants are effective at completely destroying influenza A viruses quickly in all situations. The study was published yesterday in mSphere.
In a series of tests, the researchers from the Kyoto Profectural University of Medicine found that ethanol-based disinfectants, or hand sanitizers, would have to be in contact for at least 4 minutes with the influenza A virus before killing it, a much longer duration than typical use. After two minutes of use, the virus was still active.
