Join Me For A Telephone Town-hall!
Dear Friend,
Please join me today, February 4, 2021 at 6:30 PM PT for a telephone town-hall to discuss the latest coronavirus response legislation that was signed into law and an update on where Congress stands on drafting and passing new legislation to address the COVID-19 crisis.
To join during the event please call 855-962-1008. You can also stream it live by clicking this link at the time of the event.
In my last correspondence to you, I outlined the coronavirus response legislation that I helped shape by securing key provisions like emergency rental assistance, billions of dollars of investment into community development financial institutions and minority depository institutions, and fighting for direct payments, among other key provisions.
Since that legislation has been signed into law, some of you may have already received your direct payments and may be wondering about other ways to get help for yourself, your family, or even your small business. Unfortunately, more relief is needed, and I will be working to deliver it to you in this next round of negotiations. I know that these times are difficult and while vaccine distribution has already begun, many questions remain about the path forward for our communities and our country.
It is not lost on me that I write to you following a deadly insurrection at the United States Capitol that may have left many of you asking yourselves questions about where our country goes from here. On January 13, Donald J. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives. On January 25, the House of Representatives delivered the article of impeachment to the Senate, and next week, the impeachment trial will begin in the United States Senate.
As your Member of Congress, I take your comments, questions, and concerns with the utmost seriousness and write to you to extend an invitation to you and members of our community to join me in a telephone town-hall event today, February 4 at 6:30 PM PT.
This townhall will serve as an opportunity for me to provide you with legislative updates, hear from you, and address your questions and concerns.
I look forward to speaking with you later today.
Warmest Regards,
Congresswoman Maxine Waters
