Hi ,
This week, we’ve kept up our work to make L.A.’s vaccination effort more convenient, more efficient, and more equitable for all of our residents.
One figure best illustrates the speed at which we’re getting shots into arms: as of yesterday, our city had administered 97 percent of the vaccines we've been allocated by the state and federal government. And since last week, we’ve increased vaccinations at city sites by 50 percent.
We also launched our mobile vaccine clinic pilot program, a critical step in ensuring vaccine access in low-income communities of color, which have suffered the highest rates of disease and death from COVID-19. This effort began delivering vaccinations directly to South L.A. this week, and we will expand it to other vulnerable areas of the city in the weeks ahead.
I’ve been encouraged by the White House’s actions to increase doses and get them directly to local pharmacies across the country. And today, our local efforts got another boost, as the Biden Administration and State of California announced a new mass vaccination center at Cal State L.A. –– part of a nationwide program to establish community hubs. The Cal State L.A. site will open on February 16.
Progress is happening, but we still aren’t receiving enough vaccines for everyone. As more doses arrive in L.A., we will be ready to vaccinate more Angelenos immediately.

Here are the facts you need to know:
* WHEN WILL IT BE MY TURN? All L.A. residents 65 and older are eligible for the vaccine in L.A. County, joining healthcare workers, certain essential frontline workers, and residents and staff of skilled nursing facilities on the list of those who can currently get vaccinated. Sign up to be automatically notified ([link removed]) when you become eligible for the vaccine. You can also check what phase you'll be in ([link removed]) . We’ll begin vaccinating the next eligible group –– workers in education and childcare, emergency services, and food and agriculture –– as soon as the County and State give us the green light.
* VACCINATION SITES: Nearly 300 locations are currently vaccinating people in L.A. County. As doses become available in the coming month, more sites and providers will administer shots. When your turn arrives, you can make an appointment through the County hub ([link removed]) and bring your ID to the site. If you are 65 or older, have a disability, or do not have access to the internet and need assistance making your vaccination appointment, you can contact the County’s Call Center –– open from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. –– at (833) 540-0473. You can also talk with your doctor about getting vaccinated.
* SECOND DOSE: If you’ve gotten your first dose at a City or County site, your second dose appointment will be scheduled automatically. You’ll receive an email and text message 3 to 7 days before your second dose appointment, telling you where to go and when. The second appointment will be scheduled within the CDC’s recommended timeline. While it’s possible to change the time of your follow-up appointment, we strongly recommend keeping the slot you’ve been given.
* BY THE NUMBERS: The City of Los Angeles has administered more than 206,644 vaccine doses at our five City-run vaccination sites. In the last week, our centers have provided 97,187 life-saving vaccinations –– a 50 percent increase since last week.
* AVOIDING VACCINE FRAUD AND SCAMS: It’s important to be on the lookout for vaccination scams. Red flags include messages suggesting that vaccination is required by law, ads from unofficial sources on social media, and offers to jump the vaccine line by paying a fee. Remember: no one legitimate will ever try to sell you the vaccine –– online, over the phone, or in person.
* GET THE LATEST INFORMATION: Get key information by signing up for email updates ([link removed]) from the L.A. County Department of Public Health. When your turn comes, make an appointment. Tell your friends and family to sign up for this VaxFacts newsletter ([link removed]) or follow us at @MayorOfLA ([link removed]) on Twitter. These vaccines are safe, they are effective, and they are saving lives. Yet with the virus still spreading and new variants reaching our communities, we cannot let down our guard. Whether you’ve been vaccinated or are still waiting for your shot, our mission now is to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
All of us can do our part by masking up and keeping our distance –– and when you’re eligible, get your vaccine.
Stay healthy and be safe.
