Team, I'm once again urging my colleagues in the Senate to end the filibuster.

The filibuster allows Mitch McConnell to continue blocking progressive legislation from passing -- even though Democrats control the House, the Senate, and the White House. In order to fully meet the scale of the many crises we face today, we must finally stop allowing McConnell and the GOP to slow our progress.

I'm joining Senator Ed Markey, Representatives Ilhan Omar, Jamaal Bowman and Ro Khanna, and organizations like Women's March and Justice Democrats to make it clear: We must immediately end the filibuster so we can pass critical legislation.

Keeping the filibuster in place and continuing to allow McConnell power over the Senate could prevent us from being able to quickly expand voting rights, get big money out of politics, combat climate change, guarantee health care, pass humane immigration reform, make D.C. a state, reform the criminal justice system, and much more.

We must take bold action in this moment -- as we face a devastating pandemic, a worsening climate crisis, historic income inequality, and so many folks struggling including the more than 87 million who are uninsured or underinsured.
