I have great news -- together, we reached our first end-of-month goal of 2021!
We’ve turned a page with new leadership focused on building back our country, bringing us together, and addressing the challenges we face. And because of this team’s commitment, we’re starting this new chapter with the grassroots strength we’ll need to make progress for the American people.
Since I entered my second term and President Joe Biden entered the White House, Democrats have already taken important steps toward rebuilding our country:
THE PANDEMIC: President Biden issued a comprehensive response to the coronavirus, committing to buying enough vaccines to protect 300 million Americans by the end of the summer, strengthening our supply chain, and improving COVID-19 testing.
JUSTICE AND EQUALITY: The president committed to dismantling systemic racism in our country, strengthening anti-discrimination policies, building an equitable future for all Americans by ending the ban on Muslim foreign nationals entering our country and the ban on transgender Americans serving in our military, and committing to justice for marginalized communities hardest hit by damage to our environment.
HEALTH CARE: President Biden took action to ensure access to quality, affordable health care by issuing a special health care enrollment period, strengthening Medicaid and protections for pre-existing conditions, and protecting access to women’s reproductive health care.
THE ENVIRONMENT: President Biden is treating the climate crisis like the national security issue it is. He rejoined the Paris Agreement, took action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and is working to build a modern and sustainable infrastructure and creating good-paying clean-energy jobs.
EDUCATION AND THE ECONOMY: I’m proud to get to work in my new role on the Education and Labor Committee. As a mom of four who has been supporting my kids through remote learning during the pandemic, I understand the challenges facing students, teachers, and working parents. We’ve got to do more to help workers who lost their jobs and any learning gaps our kids faced during the pandemic.
GATEWAY TUNNEL: I’m thrilled to hear President Biden’s Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s commitment to moving forward with the Gateway Tunnel project and rebuilding critical infrastructure New Jerseyans depend on. This is what leadership looks like.
We’ve made tremendous progress in just two week’s time, but there’s still so much to do. Your grassroots support has always fueled my efforts in Congress, and I’m counting on your continued engagement as we begin this new chapter in Washington.
