Fellow American,
President Biden has repeatedly stated his commitment to bipartisanship, but it doesn’t look like the DC Democrats are paying much attention to that notion.
Top Senate Democrats like Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders are pushing for complete progressivism with goals like raising taxes, cutting military funding, and cancelling student debt.
And they’re doing it under the guise of providing additional COVID-19 relief!
I will always fight for Nebraskans and all Americans, and will not saddle them with a budget that will take away their hard-earned income and burden their children with more debt.
That’s why I signed onto a proposal introduced by Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith that reintroduces a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution requiring the President and Congress to enact annual balanced budgets.
The proposal includes:
- Requiring the President to submit a balanced budget
- Requiring Congress to pass a balanced budget
- Restricting federal spending to 18% of the GDP
- Requiring two-thirds majority to raise taxes in the House & Senate
- Requiring three-fifths majority to raise the debt limit in the House & Senate
It is imperative that we get our spending in check as we seek to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. While it was necessary to address the national health emergency, this level of spending cannot become our new normal.
If you agree that we need real bipartisanship to pass a balanced budget, please chip in now to help.
