Dear John,

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16).

Now is the time to be light to the world around us.

This is a season in which we must hold fast to our convictions, shining the light of truth. And when the time and opportunity come for us to do those good works, we will rise to the occasion and rightly show up, stand up and speak up for our shared values–values based on the truth of God’s Word.

I admit, there are times we might be tempted to be discouraged, especially when the darkness, and dark policies, come from the highest levels of our government. This was the case last Thursday, on the eve of the 48th Annual March for Life, the largest annual pro-life event in America. This was the same pro-life event President Trump spoke at last year.

Sadly, rather than celebrate life, our new president expanded the legalization of abortion here and abroad. In an executive order, President Biden reversed the Mexico City Policy and rolled back the Title X Protect Life Rule. This means that our taxpayer dollars will once again be used to pay for and promote abortions in foreign countries, and monies will also be given to facilities that perform abortions here in the U.S. via the Title X program.

Needless to say, Planned Parenthood and abortion advocates across the nation are elated. Here at Wisconsin Family Action (WFA), we are saddened and will be monitoring how President Biden’s actions will affect us here in the Badger State.

Here at home, our Wisconsin legislature is back in session. We will soon be working on state pro-life bills (in fact one has already been introduced, the Born Alive Protection Act), election reform (we are urging legislators to get this going NOW), and how the proposed budget impacts Wisconsin families.

We are also engaged in several active bills in the Assembly and in the Senate right now—bills that fundamentally deal with our "first freedom," which is religious freedom. Issues include stopping the mandating of the COVID vaccine in general; stopping the mandating of the COVID vaccine as a condition of employment; and unfairly limiting or shutting down places of worship or churches during the virus crisis. Stay tuned! These bills are very fluid; nearly every day something new happens with them.

As you can see, we are only one month into the new year; and it is already busy!

Please consider partnering with us by investing in the work of WFA today to ensure that light and truth are shared in the halls of government and in the culture at large.

Always, as Christians we must think bigger, look higher and expect more—because we serve a great God. Thank you for your consideration as we show up, stand up and speak up, shining light into the world around us.

For families,

Julaine Appling
President

PS: Together, we can be that light the world needs! By God’s grace, through your investment and prayers today, we can meet this battle head on, anchored by prayer, and continue to shine Light and Truth into the darkness. If we don’t stand for strengthening and preserving God’s design for marriage and families, the sanctity of life and religious freedom in Wisconsin, who will? It’s up to us. What a glorious opportunity! We hope you will join us in this incredible mission.
