Friend,
This month we celebrate Black leaders and pioneers.
We honor political leaders like Hiram Revels and Blanche K. Bruce, the first Black men elected to the Senate in the 1870s; Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman to be elected to Congress in 1968; and Vice President Kamala Harris, the first Black American and first South Asian American to serve as vice president.
Their stories compel us to fight racial inequality and injustices in our country.
Who are the Black leaders in your community that you’d like to lift up and honor? We'd love to hear from you.
This Black History Month, and every day, we are inspired by the history and perseverance of Black Americans. And we recommit ourselves to work towards a more perfect union, both by and for the people.
Social change isn't made by the individual; creating a movement is a collective endeavor.
