John —

Last night, New York’s legislature finally repealed a racist and anti-LGBTQ+ law known as the 'Walking While Trans' ban.

I have always been a fierce advocate of abolishing this draconian law and others like it. Click here to help me continue fighting for progress as Manhattan Borough President.

For over 45 years, the Walking While Trans ban has enabled police officers statewide to arrest anyone, without evidence, who they suspect is “soliciting prostitution.” Inevitably this has led to indiscriminate profiling of trans women and women of color.

But make no mistake, while this is a huge win for progressives and the LGBTQ+ community, it’s one that should have happened much sooner. The fact that it took our legislature decades to get rid of such a blatantly racist law—despite mountains of evidence—is unacceptable.

As the most progressive Manhattan Borough President in the history of the office, I will not play politics with people’s lives.

The LGBTQ+ community and the Black men and women who are the victims of constant police profiling do not have time to wait for change—they need it now. Will you help me fight for necessary change in Manhattan by chipping in to our historic campaign today?
