THIS IS THE MOVEMENT TO PUT

Friend, Hello from Washington, DC, where today the remains of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick lie in honor beneath the Capitol dome. It's hard to believe that his murder at the hands of insurrectionists was less than a month ago. Doesn't it feel like we've been processing this nightmare for far longer? I have friends who serve on the Capitol Police force who describe that day as being in medieval hand-to-hand combat, that they could feel the evil enveloping them. Five people died; hundreds were injured; the seat and symbol of our democracy was desecrated. It was all unimaginable -- until it wasn't. You already know January 6th was an inflection point that led me and nine of my fellow Republicans to vote to impeach President Trump. And today, all House Republicans will meet to decide whether to punish people like me OR to punish members of Congress who peddle insane conspiracy theories and deadly lies. Who will have a seat at the table at the end of the day, and who will be shunned? It sure will be telling, but it will not change the work you and I have to do. And on that note, I would be remiss if I did not say "thank you." Thank you for proving there are SO many people out there who want what's best for America rather than just what's best for their "team." I've been so encouraged watching conservatives and progressives, Republicans and Democrats, and those who've felt without a home come together under the Country First banner. Sure, we may not agree on every public policy, but that's not what this movement is about. We agree on what's most important: saving the very foundation of our Republic, and building a brighter future upon it. And if you've gotten this far, I'd like to ask for your help. For this movement to be effective and impactful, it's important that we understand each other. Would you please take 1 minute to fill out our very first Country First survey? It will be a huge help.
