We can't understate how dangerous this is.
All eyes have been on President Biden's new administration and how this new congressional class can tackle the pandemic and the intertwined economic depression.
But we can't ignore this movement against fundamental human rights festering in our own backyards.
Republicans are
still pushing anti-LGBTQ+ legislation at the state and local level -- with bills already introduced in
14 state legislatures across the country.
But here's the good news: Run for Something candidates are championing LGBTQ+ rights. Nebraska state Senator Megan Hunt is fighting to ban conversion therapy. Pennsylvania state Representative Malcolm Kenyatta wants to collect LGBTQ+ data on state forms so communities can get more targeted resources. (And fun fact: Both are members of the LGBTQ+ community themselves. Representation matters!)
We need more Megans and Malcolms to run at all levels so we can put a stop to discriminatory legislation and protect the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ folks and other marginalized communities.
Help recruit the young progressives who can put an end to this legislative bigotry. If you can, make a donation of any amount to Run for Something.
