CALL TO ACTION:GET MEMBERS OF ALBUQUERQUE’S TEACHERS UNION TO RETURN TO CLASS
Dear Friends,
Make your voices heard this afternoon and get Albuquerque students back to school!
Today at 5pm the Albuquerque School Board will vote on whether teachers and students will return to school, but the Albuquerque Teachers Federation says no.
The union doesn’t want to go back to school.
These unionized teachers represent only about half of Albuquerque’s 6,200 educators. Many teachers are anxious to go back, understanding that online schooling is hurting our kids. But the union is blocking this.
We must get students back. They’re getting further and further behind.
APS’s policy states “ kids’ interests come first.” It’s time to put politics aside and educate our kids.
The Governor has caused enough damage to our education system and our students’ education with her mishandling of the Public Health Order. She’s placated the union, consistently saying classrooms are not safe when there was no scientific evidence. A Duke University study even shows schools are safe and kids should be back in class learning again.
The Governor knew all along it was safe to go back to school --months ago-- but in the interest of politics, hurt our children.
