John,
As we start off Black History Month, let us all join together to recognize the progress we've made toward equality, thank those whose hard work made that progress possible, and recommit to the work still ahead of us.
We must continue to fight to address the ongoing repercussions of slavery and Jim Crow, and to identify and eradicate the roots of systemic racism so that we can fully realize our nation's promise of equality for all.
That work starts with ensuring that Americans of every color can participate in our democracy and have their voices heard. The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore the full strength of the Voting Rights Act to end racial gerrymandering and stop states from engaging in racist voter suppression tactics.
We must act -- Republican lawmakers across the nation are already mobilizing to further restrict access to the ballot after historic turnout from voters of color this election. We need 75 grassroots supporters from 19125 to sign on to be a citizen co-sponsor of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act >>
