I know you heard a lot from me and my team over the last week in particular. Thank you to everyone that helped us with our budget deadline on Sunday.
Because of you, we closed the gap in our budget -- but we still need support to implement our outreach strategy statewide and online. Voting starts in Virginia in less than 100 days -- meaning we have less than 100 days to make sure everyone knows about my candidacy. If you didn’t have a chance to give to this effort yet, you can still make an impact by giving here.
I also wanted to make sure you saw that my campaign released our economic plan last week. This issue is so important and is impacting our community as a whole. I wanted to make sure the news didn’t get lost.

Effects from the pandemic aren’t going to magically disappear once we get the illness and its spread under control. We need a robust plan to ensure our families and small businesses will have what they need to get back on their feet, get back to work, and stay safe.
Some pieces from my plan that I want to highlight:
-
We need to make Virginia's unemployment process simpler. I hear these stories all the time: those of you that spend hours on hold over the phone to get information about unemployment benefits and wait months before seeing help in your bank account. We can’t wait to address this issue.
-
I support tax credits on PPE purchases to help our small businesses. Small businesses shouldn’t need to carry the burden alone to keep their business afloat while maintaining safety.
-
We need to invest in our education system, high-tech education, and infrastructure. We have to continue providing resources to boost Virginians’ skills and ability to excel. We can ensure a strong future for VA, but we must invest in it.
We can build a Commonwealth where everyone can succeed by implementing effective policies for economic stability. My plan rejects the false claim that Virginia has to be either a good place to raise a family OR be pro-business. It can and will be both.
We’re in this together. Thank you for your support!

Jennifer Carroll Foy was born and raised in Petersburg. In 2017, she flipped a Republican district as a first-time candidate pregnant with twins. During her time as Delegate, Jennifer championed the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, helped expand Medicaid to 400,000 Virginians, and advocated for the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable communities.
She has a career of public service and it started long before 2017. As a public defender, Jennifer helped give a voice to the often voiceless — children, people suffering from addiction, those experiencing homelessness, those with mental illness, and the poor.
Now she’s running to be the first woman elected Governor of Virginia and serve as the first Black woman to be governor nationwide.
