Friend,

Last week, AG Josh Stein announced a historic settlement with Duke Energy requiring Duke’s shareholders to pick up more than $1 billion of coal ash cleanup costs over the next decade. Here’s what Hendersonville Times-News had to say:

“Every North Carolinian who pays an electric bill will benefit from an agreement announced this week that shifts $1.1 billion in coal ash cleanup costs from ratepayers to Duke Energy and its shareholders.”

AG Stein has fought for years to ensure that the full cost of cleaning up coal ash does not fall on the backs of North Carolina consumers -- and this agreement means it won’t.

As your Attorney General, Josh will continue to stand up for ratepayers and our environment.

Team Stein
