Friend – in the anticipation of Donald Trump's second impeachment trial in the Senate, I sent out an urgent call to action for 342 members of this team to speak out against the Republican Party's complicity. Time and again the GOP have let Donald Trump off the hook, damaging our democracy in the process. We've got to speak with one voice and tell them: We will not stand for it.
Donald Trump is a habitual offender. Last year during the first impeachment trial we made it as clear as possible that if we didn't hold the former president accountable, he would do it again. And now he has – inciting violence, putting our democracy at risk. The majority of Republican senators stood by him during the first trial and now are signaling their complicity with his undermining of our democratic norms again – voting not to hold a trial, even as Donald Trump struggles to find lawyers to defend his unconscionable actions.
It's clear to anyone who believes in the Constitution that the he needs to be held to account. No one is above the law – even if my Republican colleagues refuse to uphold the oath of office they took.
So I'm getting my message to the top of your inbox. We still need about 150 more supporters to make their voices heard by answering this question:
Do you trust the GOP to do what's right for our democracy?
Yes: [link removed]
No: [link removed]
Thank you,
Congresswoman Val Demings

Subject: The Senate must convict Donald Trump
Friend,
Donald Trump may be out of the Oval Office, but that doesn't mean our democracy isn't in dire straits. Just look at what happened in the Senate the other day: Only five – five! – Republican senators voted to uphold Donald Trump's second impeachment for inciting domestic terrorism.
Let's leave behind their flawed arguments that officials can't be impeached after having left office (there's plenty of precedent that says otherwise) – these senators were in the Capitol when a mob, incited by Trump, descended violently upon our democracy. They know firsthand the chaos that ensued. Accountability and justice are the only path toward healing: The insurrection resulted in the death of five people, including a Capitol police officer.
Do they honestly believe the former president should be let off, without so much as a slap on the wrist, for inciting an insurrection upon the United States of America? Do they honestly think he is above the law?
Friend, it seems like the Republican Party will continue to do whatever it takes to embolden the habitual offender that is Donald Trump. And we must not stand for it. That's why I need your voice in this – we need to show Congress that the American people won't stand for anything less than protecting our democracy.
I'm hoping 342 members of this team will speak out before 11:59 p.m. tonight, and all it takes is answering the following question:
Do you trust the GOP to do what's right for our democracy?
Yes: [link removed]
No: [link removed]
Thank you,
