Last year, your efforts helped throw a spanner in the works of this government's dangerous and corrupt privatisation agenda in many areas. John, 2020 might have been one of the most difficult years you’ve ever had, but you stepped up and campaigned hard against the privatisation of our public services. - You helped us celebrate the NHS’s birthday with polling to show that 3 out of 4 of us want the NHS to be reinstated as a fully public service after the
pandemic
- You put the government under pressure again and again over its decision to outsource contact tracing to Serco – pushing for local public health teams to get the cash instead, and they've received extra funding as a result
- You helped to impact the public conversation on everything from water to energy to outsourcing – we were quoted hundreds of times in newspapers like the Mirror, the Guardian, the Daily Express, the Independent as well as in plenty of local papers
- With your help, we pushed Labour’s Keir Starmer to sign up to support public ownership pledges across ten policy areas
- We saw lots of your wonderful and beautiful faces at our weekly webinars at lunchtime on Thursdays!
- You
helped us expose the privatisation in the NHS Supply Chain
- You won a partial victory with the House of Lords voting to protect our NHS after we handed in our biggest petition ever of over 315,000 signatures
We didn't get everything we wanted but you surely made your voice heard. Your energy and commitment to public ownership was at the centre of our campaigns, your reflections should be at the heart of how We Own It moves forward with campaigning in 2021. |
