Wisconsin’s criminal justice system often fails the population it is meant to serve as well as the taxpayers footing the bill. Our prisons are overcrowded, spending on corrections is increasing and too many of those coming out of the system struggle to integrate back into their communities. In the fact sheet below, the second in a series of Badger Institute Policy Priorities ([link removed]) , we look at the costs associated with the criminal justice system, recommend specific policy changes and highlight states that have adopted successful reforms.
