Rosa Jimenez Is Released After 17 Years in Prison

In 2005, Rosa Jimenez was sentenced to 99 years in prison for a crime she did not commit. Last week, after more than 17 years behind bars, she was finally released. Rosa was convicted of murder after a toddler she was babysitting died. This conviction was based on false forensic testimony, against which her original trial lawyer offered an inadequate defense. But in January, several top pediatric airway specialists testified that the medical evidence supports what Rosa’s always said — the child accidentally choked and died of complications. The judge agreed that no crime occurred in this case, and ordered Rosa’s release. Read more about Rosa’s story, and then make a donation to her GoFundMe to help her rebuild her life. Remembering Dion Harrell, Exoneree, Dear Friend, and Gentle Soul

We are deeply saddened to share that our client, Dion Harrell, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 15. He was a proud father of two and a loving grandfather to three grandchildren. Dion, who was 53, was wrongly convicted of rape and spent four years in prison and nearly two decades on the sex offender registry for a crime he did not commit. Despite it all, he never stopped fighting for justice and was fully exonerated in 2016. Dion will be sorely missed. In his honor, please read these special memories of Dion.
