February 2021 VACCINE UPDATE Today, Governor Polis provided an update on the State’s vaccine distribution efforts. Here’s the latest on the number of doses Coloradans have received to date: 473,977 Coloradans have received their first dose 140,189 have received their second dose Total = 614,166 doses administered As of February 2nd, 223,915 Coloradans 70 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, bringing us more than halfway toward our goal of vaccinating at least 70% of this population by the end of the month. PHASE 1B.2 Last week, Governor Polis provided an update on the projected number of vaccines Colorado would receive between now and the end of February. Based on those numbers, the Governor not only feels confident that we will reach our goal for the 70 and older population, but that we can expand the Vaccine Prioritization List, which now includes: Coloradans 65-69 years old; PreK-12 educators; and Child care workers in licensed facilities in Phase 1B.2. The group above will be eligible to receive the vaccine beginning on Monday, February 8th. Coloradans ages 65-69 will sign up directly with providers, just like our 70 and older population, while our educators will work directly with their employers, many of whom have already partnered with a local provider to vaccinate their staff. BINAX TESTS FOR TEACHERS Several weeks ago, the State announced the exciting partnership with Binax to provide at-home COVID-19 testing for educators and students who opted-in to the program. Yesterday, Governor Polis personally delivered 12 at-home BinaxNow testing kits to teachers across the state. The Governor started the day in Arvada and ended in Pueblo, making 10 different stops in between. Through this program, one million tests will be sent to the homes of Colorado educators each month, so they can regularly screen for COVID-19 and have the resources they need to stay safe as they teach our students. Tests come with telehealth support to ensure they are properly testing and submitting results accurately. An at-home testing regimen further increases the safety of in-person learning and adds another element to layered safety precautions in the classroom. "DO COLORADO RIGHT" CAMPAIGN Governor Polis today also announced the launch of a COVID-19 awareness campaign by the Colorado Tourism Office. The “Do Colorado Right” campaign aims to encourage both in-state and out-of-state winter travelers to avoid risky behaviors during the pandemic as they visit the state’s ski resorts and other destinations for the current winter and upcoming spring seasons. Over the last year, Coloradans have risen to the occasion and taken the necessary steps to avoid seeing large spikes around the holidays. Today’s launch of the “Do Colorado Right” campaign is yet another step we’re taking to keep our state’s COVID cases and hospitalizations trending in the right direction. The campaign, which features Olympic Gold Medalist snowboarder Red Gerard and “Bachelor” contestant Ben Higgins, among others, seeks to spread the message that everyone should stay six feet apart, wear a mask, and practice social distancing. You can view the clip presented during the Governor’s press briefing at this link, and watch all campaign videos at this link. While folks head back up to the slopes and we race to vaccinate more Coloradans, the State is doing everything we can to slow the spread of the virus. That’s why the Governor strongly encourages Coloradans to continue: Wearing a mask; Staying at least six feet away from others; Enjoying winter activities with those in your household; and Staying home when you are sick. COMMUNITY VACCINATION CLINICS Last weekend, Governor Polis had the pleasure of visiting five vaccination clinics across the metro area, even virtually joining a sixth clinic in Glenwood Springs! The Governor visited vaccination events at Servicios de La Raza, Coors Field, Mental Health Center of Denver’s Dahlia Campus, Denver Park Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the Salud Clinic in Commerce City, where he received his first dose of the vaccine as part of the continuity of state government. Over the course of the weekend: UCHealth vaccinated 10,000 Coloradans at Coors Field - an incredibly impressive number, the likes of which we haven’t seen at other events across the country. The average time from entry to exit was less than 23 minutes -- that included driving through the parking lot, registering, getting vaccinated, and spending 15 minutes in the observation parking lot. The clinics hosted by community health providers focused on vaccinating those who have been historically underserved, like our Latino and African American Coloradans. Throughout the day these organizations were able to vaccinate more than 1,000 Coloradans 70 and older. The Governor could not be more grateful for the work of the organizers and health care professionals who made all of these clinics possible. UPCOMING SCL HEALTH VACCINATION EVENT This coming weekend, SCL Health will be vaccinating 5,000 Coloradans 70 and older at the National Western Complex, and they are working to specifically reach out to underserved Coloradans. Currently, the event is at capacity, and you must have an appointment to be vaccinated. This is important as they cannot accommodate walk-ins. SCL Health is also partnering with the City and County of Denver and more than two dozen non-profit community organizations to support outreach and registration of patients from some of Colorado’s most vulnerable populations. For those who were not able to get registered for this event, you can enter your contact information at SCLHealth.org/vaccineform. You will be notified when an appointment becomes available at one of their hospital vaccination clinics. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Visit Website Office of Governor Jared Polis | 136 State Capitol , Denver, CO 80203 Unsubscribe [email protected] Update Profile | Customer Contact Data Notice Sent by [email protected]
