Friend —
California was among the first states to pass legislation that would gradually raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. In 2021, we’re nearly there at $13.
Yet, the federal minimum wage is still lagging behind at a dehumanizing rate of $7.25 an hour — an amount that hasn’t budged since 2009.
Every working person in this country deserves a wage that allows them to maintain shelter and put food on the table. No one should be forced to live paycheck to paycheck or work two to three jobs just to make ends meet — especially during a global pandemic. Frankly put, $7.25 an hour is a poverty wage and it is severely unacceptable.
President Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus plan would get working people the support they need to survive this economic crisis by ensuring $1,400 checks and raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025.
It’s imperative our government do what it must to get people the support they need and it’s why this kind of relief cannot be delayed another moment.
Our Democratic White House and Congressional majority afford us an opportunity to pass life-changing legislation. We must use this advantage to benefit the people by passing President Biden’s stimulus plan and raising the minimum wage. If you agree, add your name here: [[link removed]]

California has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to enacting progressive policies that give our constituents the support they need. Now, it’s time for the federal government to catch up and do the same.
There is power in numbers. Thank you for standing with us,
