--------------------------------------------------------------------------
John,
Last night, over 150,000 people tuned in to watch Rep. Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez on Instagram Live as she spoke about the insurrectionist
attack on January 6th and the chilling experiences she lived through that
day.
In telling her story, AOC also revealed that she is a survivor of sexual
assault. She spoke about the trauma that this attack evoked and compared
the abusive tactics men so often use to avoid consequences for their
actions, to the tactics the GOP is currently using to run from
accountability.
It was a powerful reminder why it’s so important we hold those responsible
for inciting this attack accountable for their actions. The terror that
AOC and so many others lived through that day — from other members, to
their staffers, to Black and Latino essential workers — was an attack on
our bodies and our democracy and must never happen again.
But as long as seditionists like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Sen. Ted
Cruz, Sen. Josh Hawley, and every other member of Congress who fueled the
white supremacist attack on the Capitol remain in Congress, our democracy
remains in danger. They’ve made it clear that they will go as far as
manipulating election results and inciting insurrection to score a
political point.

sedition caucus from Congress? We must hold them accountable for the
disgraceful stain they’ve left on our democracy and remove their power for
good.

We cannot understate the threat these seditionists pose to our country’s
future and the urgency to remove them.
Together, we organized and defeated Trump. If we channel that grassroots
power again, we can defeat Trumpism next and make sure those who enabled
this attack on our democracy lose their political power as well.
We cannot forget the fact that Supervisor Harvey Milk and the Mayor of San
Francisco were murdered by their own colleague in City Hall. We cannot
ignore the fact that there are very real security threats that are still
being investigated between Republicans in Congress and the
insurrectionists who breached the Capitol. And we cannot pretend that
unity is possible unless meaningful action is taken toward accountability
first.
Since Rep. Cori Bush introduced legislation calling to expel members of
Congress who incited the coup, Rep. Marjorie Greene has made racist
attacks against Cori on Twitter, harassed her team in the hallways, and
threatened their safety by refusing to wear a mask. As a result, Cori’s
team has moved their office so they don’t have to keep looking over their
shoulders, wondering if a white supremacist colleague is conspiring
against them. These seditionists have no place in Congress,
John.

office so we can correct the direction our country is heading.
