Hi John,

Yesterday we walked out of the first House Committee hearing on gun violence in communities of color.

Standing before Members of Congress, I testified that gun violence impacts every American community. But Black, Latinx and Indigenous communities bear the heaviest burden of this violence, yet we often recieve the least attention from policymakers. I was honored to join with my comrades in this fight -- Reggie Moore and Eddie Bocanegra- two freedom fighters for justice who have long been in the fight for safer communities. Earlier this year we announced the first comprehensive policy agenda led by people of color. [[link removed]] It's never been more important that our country take action to stop gun violence in communities of color once and for all -- and that starts with you, John.

Here is the video of yesterday's hearing. [[link removed]]

John, we know there are solutions, in states across the country, including California, Massachusettes, Connecticut, Maryland, and most recently in New Jersey, state lawmakers are taking actions through policy to create change.

But until the stakeholders, including lawmakers, start enacting some of these life-saving policies, each and every one of us has the responsibility to speak for the millions of people of color who have been impacted by gun violence, whose voices are absent from, or silenced within this movement.

Thank you for your support.

In solidarity,
Amber
