VICTORY! Court Suspends Eviction of Landless Workers Movement Encampment

The Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJSP) suspended for 90 days the order of repossession of land currently occupied by the Marielle Vive! encampment. Our partner the Landless Workers Movement (MST) is celebrating this temporary victory. [ [link removed] ]

Help Fund Agroecology School in Guatemala

We are crowdsourcing the money needed to make a $10,000 grant to support an agroecology school in Guatemala. The school will teach Indigenous Peoples and smallholder farmers growing methods in harmony with nature to restore damaged lands and soils, and will educate them on methods to organize, protect and feed their communities. New Staff, New Roles: Join Us for an Open House

Please welcome our new staff, and a couple longtime staff in new roles!
* *Ayman Nijim* joins us as the Solidarity Program Officer for the Middle East. Ayman is originally from Gaza, where he has worked at various international and community-based organizations with children who have experienced war and trauma.
* *Milourdes Augustin* is the Solidarity Program Officer For Haiti and West Africa. Born and raised in Haiti, Milourdes has seen first hand the harsh impacts of when capitalism and abusive governments oppress the poor and working class. Milourdes has previously worked with Grassroots through support on grant execution and research and as an executive assistant.
* *Mina Remy* is the new Director of Philanthropic Partnerships, coordinating relationships with individuals and foundations, as well as overall messaging and communications. Mina has served most recently as the Solidarity Program Officer for West Africa and Haiti, and before that, was also our Program Coordinator for the Middle East.
* *Carol Schachet* is now the Director of Planning and Special Initiatives at Grassroots International, following more than 11 years as the Director of Development and Communications. In this new role, Carol looks forward to supporting staff well-being and internal planning, coordinating new initiatives and discovering new ways of expressing solidarity.
