Thanks to the disastrous Citizens United ruling by the Supreme Court in 2010, corporations are allowed to sink unlimited amounts of money – often anonymously – into our political system. For more than a decade, wealthy corporations and special interests, the fanatics of false trickle-down agendas, have used their massive sums of money to influence our government to their own benefit.

In the aftermath of the insurrection on Jan. 6, corporations felt immense pressure to stop donating to the 147 members of Congress who helped incite the mob with their misinformation campaign about the 2020 election. Many did cut off their support. There are those, like CVS, Delta, and Lowe’s, however, who are “still reviewing” their contribution policies. We need to keep the pressure on them so that they do the right thing: stop their funding for insurrectionist lawmakers, if not their political giving programs altogether.
