Far right extremists are using social media to recruit servicemembers and veterans to their ranks. They’ve filled Facebook and Twitter feeds with conspiracy theories and insurrectionist nonsense for years.

The effects are undeniable: An unfortunate number of the rioters at the Capitol on January 6th were currently serving in the military or veterans. An Air Force veteran was shot and killed at the Capitol after having been sucked in by these conspiracy theories.

That’s why VoteVets is running an aggressive program to combat disinformation among veterans. This is an incredibly important issue, especially in a community where people have taken oaths to defend our constitution. Make a donation to support our work here if you can:

VoteVets is the organization best suited for this work.

We are the largest progressive organization of veterans and military families in the entire country. We are already having one on one conversations with veterans through text messaging and Facebook messenger.

And we have a large social media following. That’s a very important factor because social media is where this disinformation is being spread in the first place. If we’re going to fight it, that’s where we have to focus our efforts.

That’s why we put out so many videos on our social media channels and why we target our online content so carefully.

The bottom line is, VoteVets is doing our part to combat disinformation. Now we need you to do your part. Make a donation to support our work here:
