Eyes on the prize: Apply today to join 100 students and young people from across the country from Sept. 26-29 for SFA’s annual farmworker solidarity convergence to help us forge the path to victory in the Wendy’s Boycott!

It’s that time of year again!

After an incredibly arduous – and successful – season of student organizing on campuses across the country, the young leaders of the movement for Fair Food have been spending the summer putting their plans together for SFA’s annual youth leadership convergence. And today, we’re inviting you to join 100 brilliant student leaders and organizers in making the trek to the farmworker community of Immokalee, FL, from Sept. 26-29 for the 2019 SFA Encuentro!

For the last five years, students and youth have been organizing tirelessly, calling on Wendy’s to sign a Fair Food Agreement and meet farmworkers’ demands for dignity and respect in the fields. We’ve sent thousands of letters. We’ve marched with farmworkers and their children for miles and miles in the freezing cold, blazing heat and pouring rain. We’ve gone without food for over a week in peaceful protest. We’ve successfully banned Wendy’s from our campuses.
And now, we must come together to bring it home for farmworker justice!

From Sept. 26-29, we’ll be convening to sharpen our organizing and leadership skills; ground ourselves in the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ rich organizing history; form intimate bonds with farmworker leaders; and strategize for sustained and creative action in the Wendy’s Boycott for the months ahead. At the Encuentro, you’ll have the opportunity to build community with movement leaders from across the country and familiarize yourself with SFA’s diverse farmworker solidarity network.

Submit an application today to join us at the 2019 SFA Encuentro this fall! If you can, help us spread the word about the Encuentro to your friends and organizing networks by sharing it far and wide. And for those who might need it, here we’ve got an Encuentro application form in Spanish

If you have any questions or ideas to share, drop us a line at [email protected] or give us a ring at 239-657-8311.
