today and all month long, the Arizona Democratic Party is honoring and celebrating Black History.

We celebrate all the individuals who have worked to make America what it must become.

The past year has been a paradox. We experienced immense loss and miraculous triumph. We saw a virus expose the racial healthcare inequities in our country. In the same year, we witnessed the first Black woman elected Vice President of the United States.

We were forced to say goodbye too soon to superheroes like Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther, but we said hello to a new superhero with the election of a civil servant and now Senator, Raphael Warnock.

This past year was certainly a paradox. But it embodied the American enigma - great tragedy amidst great promise. Due in no small part to the tireless work of Democrats, Black organizers, and Americans across this country, our better angels have prevailed amidst injustice and darkness.

In celebrating Black History, we hope to honor those who have given so much and inspire the next generation of Black boys and Black girls who will one day lead this Nation and make America what it must become.
