** HUD Announces FY2020 CoC Grant Renewals
------------------------------------------------------------
On January 29, 2021, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the renewal of Continuum of Care program (CoC) funds for local homeless assistance programs in Anchorage.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) previously anticipated to be released in the summer of 2020 will not be required for FY2020 HUD CoC funding. On January 29, 2021, HUD announced that previously funded CoC programs would renew. There will not be a competitive process, as is traditional, for the FY2020 COC Program Grant awards. HUD streamlined this process for FY2020 in response to the overwhelming COVID-19 impacts to communities nationwide and the limited capacity to participate in a traditional CoC Program NOFA competition. ** CDC Extends Eviction Moratorium to March 31, 2021
------------------------------------------------------------

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued ([link removed]) an order 01/29/2021 extending the federal moratorium on evictions for nonpayment of rent through March 31, following the directive issued by President Biden.

The eviction moratorium – previously slated to expire on January 31 – is intended to keep millions of renters stably housed during the pandemic. Without this critical action, tens of millions of renters would have been at immediate risk of losing their homes this winter.

For more information on the moratorium and on continued advocacy opportunities, the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) President and CEO Diane Yentel shared the following statement on the CDC’s action to extend the eviction moratorium here: [link removed] ([link removed])
