NBWA releases Beer Purchasers' Index for January 2021

NBWA released the Beer Purchasers' Index (BPI) for January 2021 today. The data from January continues to show signs of returning to normal, a welcome trend after a dramatic 2020. The total BPI for January 2021 is at 66.4, about where it was in January 2020 and before the pandemic at 65.7. NBWA Chief Economist Lester Jones explains, "A slower than expected December and healthy end-of-year shipments from suppliers significantly changed the industry's inventory picture."

Pepin Distributing joins nationwide fight against human trafficking

Pepin Distributing has partnered with NBWA's Distributors Against Human Trafficking initiative and the Florida Beer Wholesalers Association to fight human trafficking in their community. This effort is as important as ever as Super Bowl LV approaches. Uber buys Drizly for $1.1 billion

Uber announced today that it will acquire the alcohol delivery service Drizly for $1.1 billion. Once the deal closes in the first half of 2021, Drizly's marketplace will be integrated with the Uber Eats app. Delivery services have seen tremendous growth in the last year because of the pandemic. Drizly alone saw more than 300% growth in 2020 as the leading on-demand alcohol delivery service in the U.S.
