Hi Friend,

Last week, on the same day that President Biden repealed the Global Gag Rule, the Global Health, Empowerment and Rights (HER) Act was reintroduced in both the House and Senate.

These bills—S. 142, sponsored by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and H.R. 556, led by Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Ami Bera (D-CA), and Jan Schakowsky (D-IL)—will prevent a future president from re-imposing this disgraceful and harmful policy with just the stroke of a pen.

Call on your senators and representatives now and urge them to support the Global HER Act!

We know the Global Gag Rule has devastating consequences. Under the previous administration, clinics around the world closed. People were forced to seek unsafe abortions, sometimes with deadly consequences. Communities were left stranded without access to comprehensive health care, including family planning, maternal and child health care, HIV treatment, and infectious disease treatment and prevention, among other crucial services.

The Global Gag Rule undermined families. It threatened communities. And it weakened efforts to ease poverty, address climate change, and build a healthier planet for everyone. That’s what makes the Global HER Act so crucial. By preventing the return of the Global Gag Rule, it will provide needed stability to health care providers—and the people in vulnerable communities who they serve.

No single person should be able to determine access to health care for millions of people around the world. Call on your elected officials and urge them to support the Global HER Act today.

Together, Friend, I know we can put an end to this policy once and for all.

Thank you for all that you do,
