TUNE IN: LCV is hosting a LIVE Virtual Conversation with Luz Collective to launch our new report, These Votes Have Impacts: Environmental Leadership from Congressional Caucuses of Color. RSVP now to let us know you'll join us today at 1:00PM ET »

Friend — in recent years, we've witnessed firsthand the devastating impact that climate change has on low-wealth and BIPOC communities. From wildfires and other natural disasters, to the defense of and search for clean water, the time for strong climate action has never been more apparent. Thankfully, the 116th Congress, specifically the members of the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (collectively called the Tri-Caucus), stood up for climate and environmental justice like we've never seen before.

As someone who is deeply passionate about combating environmental racism and advancing climate justice, I am so excited to share our latest project: the These Votes Have Impacts report on the 116th Congress.

Based on analysis of our National Environmental Scorecard, we found that the new pro-environment majority in the U.S. House of Representatives hit the ground running by passing bills to protect our air, water, lands, and wildlife and to combat the climate crisis. Many of these bills were led and supported by members of the Tri-Caucus, who were some of the most vocal advocates of strong environmental policies, addressing environmental injustice, and spoke up in a record number of congressional hearings on climate change.

Votes have impact

To commemorate the most environmental justice-focused Congress in our history, LCV is teaming up with Luz Collective for a Live Virtual Event today at 1:00PM ET. We'll be chatting about the newly released These Votes Have Impacts report, what voting for impact means for BIPOC communities, and how we can all be involved in the fight for environmental justice.
