TIP FOR VIEWING ON MOBILE DEVICES:
TURN YOUR DEVICE TO LANDSCAPE ORIENTATION.
We really need your help! Last April, the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) approved the Beloit Fee-to-trust application for an off-reservation Casino, and it is siting on Governor Tony Evers’ desk for the final decision, which is expected to occur in early March.
Here are 2 quick things you can do to help convince Governor Evers that we don’t need another casino.
- CLICK HERE and sign the petition.
- Drop Governor Evers a handwritten letter asking him to oppose the approval of the Beloit Casino. You can find sample letters that include the mailing address HERE.
If you have already written one, please consider writing another. We need to keep a steady stream of letters going into his office through February.
Wisconsin already has 25 casinos. If approved by the governor, the Beloit Casino would be a precedent-setting, first-of-its kind, off-reservation casino in Wisconsin. This isn’t a small casino neatly nestled in a rural area. They are proposing to build a casino, convention center and waterpark complex on a prime parcel of 33 acres in Beloit, with the likelihood of an additional adjacent 40-acre parcel, currently owned by Ho Chunk Nation, becoming a part of the fee-to-trust.
Area residents will lose control over 73 acres. That represents a major part of their city and paves the way for more urban, off-reservation casinos to pop up across Wisconsin.
As always, your commitment to preserving marriage, family, life and religious freedom is greatly appreciated.
