Amazon hates conservatives.
We know this because Amazon has gone out of its way for years to try to silence conservatives. It has banned books from conservative authors. It blocked Christian non-profits from participating in the Amazon Smile program, where customers can direct a small piece of each purchase to a charity of their choice.
And then – a few weeks ago – Amazon abruptly REMOVED social media platform Parler from its web-hosting service, effectively shutting it down. Parler was one of the few social media platforms that wasn’t censoring conservatives, so Amazon decided that they had to go.
Amazon claimed it was because Parler hosted “violent content.”
So, we decided to take a closer look at Amazon’s website to see if they were really concerned about violent content or if it was just the latest excuse for a big tech company to censor conservatives.
MRC NewsBusters’ Corinne Weaver and Alec Schemmel quickly uncovered 204 examples of merchandise sold on Amazon that promoted violence, either toward President Donald Trump, Republicans, or members of the police force.
“Some of these violent products included a flag with a graphic image of Trump blowing his brains out, a mug with the slogan ‘Where is Lee Harvey Oswald now that we really need him?’ and a black T-shirt with a red slogan that read ‘Kill All Republicans.’ The shirt that urged the death of Republicans was even a sponsored listing on Amazon.”
Talk about a double standard!
After the initial NewsBusters exposé, Amazon quietly removed thirteen of the offensive items, but 191 still remain.
MRC Action is leading a national campaign to expose Amazon’s efforts to silence conservatives. Amazon’s hypocrisy of claiming to be against hate and violence -- unless it is directed at conservatives or the police -- must be stopped!
