Weighed down and tested by Trump’s presidency, our democracy is in desperate need of reforms to secure our elections and make voting more accessible to all eligible voters. And the corrupting influence of Big Money in politics and the erosion of voting rights are problems that pre-date the Trump administration and are long overdue for serious action.
During the Biden-Harris administration and with the new Congress, we have a renewed opportunity to see progress on the policy issues we care about, including remaking our democracy so that it actually responds to the needs and priorities of voters rather than of wealthy donors and special interests.

President Biden has stated that his administration is making democracy reforms a “first priority.” Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi strongly supports the bill and is expected to press for its quick passage. And Majority Leader Schumer has signified the importance of this measure by giving it the designation of S.1 in the Senate. But it’s up to us to demonstrate strong grassroots support to ensure that this legislation gets passed into law.
