Team-
Ratifying the US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement.
Securing our border.
Lowering the price of prescription drugs.
Investing in 21^st century infrastructure.
This is just a small list of what Congress should be doing. And the story that should be on every front page this week: The United States and Japan just signed a trade agreement for $7 billion worth of U.S. food and agriculture exports.
Instead, the media and Congress are focused on one thing: Impeachment.
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that this week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally endorsed an impeachment inquiry into President Trump for a phone call with the president of Ukraine. Not only is this formal inquiry just a continuation of what Chairmen Nadler and Schiff have already been doing for two years, but it also came before Pelosi even saw the transcript of the phone call in question.
What’s worse is that now that the transcript has been released, it’s even more clear that there was no quid pro quo, no pressure applied and no collusion. Sadly, these facts just don’t seem to matter.
The truth is Democrats have sought to overturn the 2016 election by impeaching President Trump since the day after the election, and have since spent two and a half years figuring out a reason and a way to do it. Talk about a solution in search of a problem.
Now as of this week, Speaker Pelosi has made it clear that impeachment is the number one focus of six Congressional committees. While upholding the rule of law and accountability in government are foundational to our country, impeaching the president because you don’t like him is irresponsible and dangerous.
Instead of impeachment, I believe we need to get back to work on the priorities that Kansans and all Americans expect us to do.
We’re coming up on one of the most important fundraising deadlines of the cycle.
It’s critical that we show the Democrats that we won’t be distracted by their blind desire to tear down the president and overturn your vote.
Can you donate $10, $20, $50, or even $100 ([link removed]) to send Washington a message that it’s time to get back to work? No matter what, I’m ready to keep fighting for you.
Sincerely,
Rep. Ron Estes
