Nottingham City Special Educational Needs Service works closely with families, schools and specialist services from education, health and social care to ensure effective placements and provision for children with SENDs in schools and other settings. We are looking for a Casework Assistant to provide support to the Casework Officer to manage and process statutory and non-statutory casework within legal and internal timelines, including complex cases and those involving appeal hearings and other legal proceedings.

The successful candidate will? demonstrate a thorough?knowledge of customer care and equality issues.?In addition, he/she will be skilled in the use of spreadsheets, database and word processing packages and will also able to work on their own initiative, organising and prioritising their own workload.

The post holder will be part of a strong supportive team that values individual strengths. The post holder will work in a busy office environment and manage a range of tasks on a day to day basis whilst ensuring that customer enquiries are met with a person centred approach.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of the work of the Children and Families Department, including an awareness of SEN policies in Nottingham
  • A thorough understanding of customer care and equality issues
  • Ability to work co-operatively and flexibly as apart of a team
  • Abitlity to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with a variety of people
  • Experience in administrative procidures and practices
  • Experience of liasing with colleagues and proffessionals accross a range of service areas.
