I wanted to write to you today and let you know where my thoughts are as our country continues its struggle through the COVID-19 pandemic. Many folks, and many of our neighbors, have struggled to make ends meet during this pandemic. And many of us have gotten COVID-19 or had loved ones who have been sick.

The economic struggles started well before the pandemic, and they have gotten worse during it. I'm fighting for a robust COVID relief bill that will help folks get through this pandemic and end it as quickly as possible.

With a Democratic Congress, and President Joe Biden in the White House, there is no excuse to fall short for the people of this country. After I share some more thoughts, I'm going to ask you to make a donation to help me keep up this fight for an expansive COVID relief bill.

Team, this is a look at the scale of the crisis: Nearly 1 million additional people are filing for unemployment every week. 1 in 7 families are going hungry. Evictions continue even as leaders tout eviction "moratoriums." Nearly 450,000 people have died in this country since the pandemic started.

We need to pass a relief bill right now, and it needs to meet the scale of this crisis. We need recurring checks for everyone in the country so they can afford rent, food, and everything else they need. We need expanded unemployment insurance too. We need massive funding for vaccines and vaccine administration so it is free and available to everyone. This is what I'm fighting for.

Some people, especially Republicans, are complaining about the cost of an expansive COVID relief package. Some are complaining about passing the bill without bipartisan support. Republicans voted to help corporations and the ultra-rich without worrying about cost or bipartisan support. Democrats need to lead with moral clarity to end the pandemic and help working families. We must pass an expansive bill immediately, even if Republicans refuse to support it.
