Four Category 1 Deficiencies Remain

The Air Force has resolved two Category 1 deficiencies on the KC-46 tanker, both problems with the aircraft’s auxiliary power unit that could impact the safety of flight. Boeing and Air Force officials are working to install fixes to the APU’s duct clap and drain mast, and Air Mobility Command is confident the problems will be solved for good. However, four remaining problems are still years away from being solved.
