Friends,

Today, I'm writing to ask for your support so we can move funds into my home state of Texas and support two incredible individuals running for office near Houston. I know we’ve asked a lot this year -- but these are our last two endorsements for 2019, and we need your help to make significant investments. The Houston area is the largest in Texas by population, and by supporting its rising community leaders, together, we can lay the groundwork to turn Texas blue.

Isabel Longoria, Houston City Council, District H
Isabel Longoria is running for Houston City Council, District H. Isabel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Trinity University and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas LBJ School. She is passionate about advocacy and community organizing, shown through her involvement in the board of organizations such as the Mayor’s LGBTQ Advisory Board, League of Women Voters, and the New Leaders’ Council. Isabel’s impressive list of endorsements represents support from Latino Texas PAC, Houston GLBT Political Caucus, and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia. After working in the Texas Legislature, Isabel has spent 4 years working at the AARP and doing work organizing in her community. Rarely are we so blown away by a candidate who’s got the full package: with policy smarts, broad campaign experience, and a ground game that’s incredibly impressive -- we have no doubt that Isabel will change the long-term trajectory of Texas.

Dr. Eliz Markowitz, Texas State Representative, HD 28
Dr. Eliz Markowitz is running in the most contested state representative race in Texas. Eliz is a native Texan, raised in Sugar Land by a teacher and an oil worker. She earned her Bachelor's in Computer Science from Trinity University, two Master's Degrees in Business and Healthcare from UT San Antonio, and a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston. Eliz currently works as an instructor, corporate trainer, and author with the Princeton Review, where she trains other teachers across the nation and works closely with students. With a focus on improving public education, affordable rural healthcare, and disaster management after the damage of Hurricane Harvey, Eliz’s platform strives for equity among Texas’ vulnerable populations. She declared her intent to run for the scheduled election in 2020, but after the incumbent stepped down, a special election was called and now Eliz is on the ballot this November -- the only Democrat running against 6 Republicans.

Early voting in Texas starts in 24 days -- and each of these candidates will be on the ballot. Isabel is hoping to raise more funding for her mail program, which targets not only likely municipal voters, but also invests in the long-term trajectory of the state by engaging first time voters and recent registrants. Knowing that the six Republicans she’s running against will have a massive voter turnout plan, Eliz is fundraising for her own field program, intending to bring on full time paid canvassers beginning next week.

We’re cutting checks and sending our contributions to Texas on Monday -- so today, we’re asking you to pitch in whatever you can to help. John, can you donate today to support Isabel and Eliz?

Thanks for all of your support this year. I’m really proud of what we’ve done together and looking forward to the next stages of our growth!

Best,
Hannah
