Let's be clear -- Donald Trump was not and has
never been alone in his divisiveness. Every ounce of hatred and racist stance was enabled by various Republicans in the House and Senate that were, at best, too afraid to stand up to him and, at worst, share his repulsive ideologies.
Senator Ted Cruz has been one of the leading voices sharing fake conspiracy theories about (non-existent) voter fraud.
Representative Lauren Boebert is one of several members of Congress accused of leading large tour groups (which have been suspended due to the coronavirus) through the Capitol the day before the attack.
Senator Josh Hawley
raised his fist in support of white supremacists outside Congress moments before they violently broke into the building.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly supported calls to assassinate Democratic officials and is harassing Rep. Cori Bush in the hallways of Congress to such an extent that Cori is moving her office to keep her staff safe.
This is not the first time white supremacists have incited violence against our democracy -- and it surely will not be the last. But we must ensure it will be the last time white supremacists are able to hold positions in public office.
